Port Erin has been a popular holiday destination
ever since Victorian times. Small wonder, for the town has an enviable setting
on a magnificent sweep of sheltered sandy beach; a long promenade; superb
costal walks;a golf course and facilities for scuba diving and pony trekking.
In addition, there are bowls, tennis and putting at Breagle Glen which
also has an excellent cafe.
Port Erin is the Steam Railway's southern terminus... and this
magnificent preserved vintage rail system will transport you to and from
Douglas.
An added attraction to Port Erin is the
excellent range of small individual shops and the town is also home to the
Erin Arts Centre, where the world famous Mananan International
Festival of Music and the Arts is held every summer - a gathering of world
class artists. During the remainder of the year many other productions are held
in these intimate and very special surroundings... an experience not to be
missed. |
