So now you have that
picture of a television. Now you can mess around with it in your image editing
program. Most programs allow you to change the picture's size, cut out
sections, or adjust the colors. Play around with the picture until it looks the
way you want and fits in with the rest of your Web page.
Remember that people coming to visit your site have to wait for your
images to load, and if it takes too long for all the pictures to appear, they
might get bored and leave. You don't want that, so make sure that your pictures
aren't gigantic.
Once you're happy
with the picture, you need to save it as either a JPEG or a GIF. These are the
two main image formats that are used on the Web. They both compress your
picture to make it download faster, but they use different types of
compression. JPEGs are better for compressing photographs and larger images,
while GIFs are better for simpler things like text and cartoons.
Use your image editor
to save your television picture as a GIF or JPEG. Then you're ready to go. Give
the picture a name and make sure it ends in either .gif or .jpg (so it would
look something like "television.gif"). This helps the browser figure out what
it should do with the file.
