Browsing the Net means moving from one web page to
another. You move to another page by clicking on a "link".
How
do you know when a word is a link?
It is underlinedand Your mouse's cursor which is usually an arrow
turns into a hand, when held
over a link.
Pictures also called images or graphics are
often used as links, and you will see your cursor change into a
hand when you hold it over an image that is linked to another
page.
You just successfully clicked on a link and ended up on
this page. Now move your cursor over the little pink circle.
See how the
cursor changes into a hand, which means that if you click on this image, which
is also a link you will go to another web page.
This means that links can
be both underlined text as well as graphics.
All sections on the left
and top bars on this page are graphic links and they'll transport you to
different pages when clicked.
Often image links will have a little
message pop up detailing what you can expect to see if you click on the link.
These messages are called "ALT Tags".
Place your mouse over each of the coloured
bullets to see the different messages.
