Floyd's Beginners Guide to Chat

Most of us have heard about ICQ (I seek you) which is a program that allows you to "chat" to people on real time, it also tells you when your friends are online so you can send them messages or start talking to them. ICQ is perhaps the most popular way of chatting these days.

Chat is also used to create forums where you can get questions answered by experts in their fields, participate in a live discussion with a celebrity, or share your opinions with others on a common topic of interest, from quilting to international affairs.

There are chat lines about almost any topic, like computers, sports, politics, or just to chat about anything. Probably the greatest advantage about chat lines is that you can talk to anyone, anywhere in the world without paying anything beyond your Internet connection.

How to connect to a chat line?

In most cases to be able to connect to a chat line you may need software that allows you to write and also see what people are writing. There are many chat clients out there, and many of them are available for free.

ICQ: A very popular software for chatting which will allow you to Chat with the world from the ICQ Web site..
